 castor oil for hair Growth

Castor oil has wonderful health and beauty benefits. I have been using Castor oil for quite some time and even recommending to my friends and cousins to add this wonderful oil in their daily beauty regime. Castor oil is known for its rich omega-6 essential fatty acids and ricinoleic. These essential nutrients play  a significant role in increasing hair growth. In this post, I am going to share with you some of the ways I use castor oil for hair growth.

But, before I start giving tips on how to use castor oil for hair growth, let me list some of the benefits of castor oil. 🙂

  • Controls hair fall
  • Promotes hair growth
  • Treats dandruff
  • Reduces split ends
  • Thickens hair
  • Protects hair from damage

I began using Castor oil for hair growth last year. After repeatedly coloring my hair I was facing huge hair problems like; hair breakage. split ends and hair fall.

After doing my bit of research on finding a natural way to get some life on my dead hair, with no second thought, I went straight online and bought myself a bottle of castor oil from Amazon. I tried a concoction of castor oil, coconut oil and vitamin E capsules for a month and could feel my hair reacted to it much positively. I could feel my hair turning softer, thicker and longer! Ever since Castor oil has become my favorite oil. You can mix it with other essential oil according to your preference.

In winter try Castor oil And Olive Oil Mix For Hair

What You Need

  • 1-2 tsp castor oil
  • 1-2 tsp olive oil

What You Need To Do

  • You can mix equal proportions of the two oils in a small cup.
  • And then, heat the oil on a medium flame for 5 seconds (don’t overheat it)  and apply it to your hair.
  • Massage your scalp gently for 10-15 minutes.

Leave it on for an hour, and then wash it off with lukewarm water and shampoo.

In Summer you can use Castor oil with coconut oil. Take equal amount of both the oil, massage it to your scalp and tips (mainly concentrating on scalp area) and leave it overnight. The reason I suggest you use coconut oil in summer (apart from its really amazing hair benefits) is because it’s pretty difficult to get rid of coconut oil from hair during the winter. It sort of hardens and sticks to hair strands, but during summer it’s pretty easy to wash it off.

  1. Who knew? It’s always the things that we would never think of that sometimes end up working the best. Thanks for a great post!

  2. I will share this information with my daughter. She is having hair fall issues after giving birth. My son is also worried about going bald because my family has the genes for male pattern baldness. Thanks for the information!

  3. I’ve tried coconut oil before but not castor. Will give it a go when i can get my hands on some castor oil and let you know. Unfortunately it’s not so common here. Probably have to head to a specialty store.

    • Hi Betty! Since it’s natural oil, I feel you can go about without worrying much. However, I suggest you to use the oil in very little amount focusing only on the scalp. Hair massage is excellent since it stimulate hair growth. I say, just focus the scalp because running your fingers across the hair can break up the curls and make it looser.
