Everything you should know about H&M recycling program.
I know that parting with stuff that was once your favorite is not easy, but what if I tell you that you can get a discount voucher on giving your old (Like really old) clothes to H&M? Want to know more about the H&M recycle programme? Continue reading…
How does H&M recycle work?
The garment collection program at H&M is an awesome way to give your old clothes a purpose, and a wonderful initiative to control textile pollution. Yes, you can drop off any clothes and textiles from any brand, in any condition at the H&M store and get a reward of a 15 per cent discount voucher. You can find the H&M garment collection box next to their store cash counter. If you are wondering if H&M recycle shoes? well, I guess no. But they recycle febric. You can give any piece of your old torn clothes, be it a bra, socks, bed sheets or any garment. 🙂
How many bags of clothes can you take to H&M?
You can take any quantity of old clothes. For an H&M bag full, they would give you 1-3 vouchers. However, thesedays (year 2022) instead of voucher cards they transfer the discount vouchers to your H&M app directly.
H&M recycle programme initiative.
So what happens to H&M donated clothes?
They collect the boxes and then sort the contents into three categories: · Rewear — clothing that can be worn again will be sold as second-hand clothes. · Reuse — old clothes and textiles will be turned into other products, such as cleaning cloths. · Recycle — everything else is turned into textile fibers and used for things like insulation. source
My experience –
It’s simple. Watch here! 🙂
The discount voucher is applicable for just one item purchase. So three vouchers mean we can avail of these discounts for three items.
My only piece of advice for those who are thinking to drop their old clothes at H&M would be ‘ Give clothes that are in utter bad shape, something that you would throw in the bin. Old socks, stained t-shirts, loose pants, or anything no one would wear.’ The whole purpose of their initiative is to in fact stop textiles from piling up in landfills.
For clothes that are in good condition, yet you don’t wear or need anymore, you can always donate. I know it’s not so easy to make time to collect old clothes and run to an NGO. But what if I tell you that you can donate your clothes from your doorsteps? Yes, all you got to do is schedule a pickup at SADS. They deliver your donation to the right place, and not just old clothes, you can donate almost everything from furniture, stationery, bags, etc.
